V2 has nothing that would ever connect to our server.

The schemas in V3 were mapped so that people that chose to could try use editors on the files, but that's edit-time, never runtime. So there's a very slight interaction for something almost nobody is doing, but somebody could do down the road. Which is why we announce it (aside from the wiki and other things justifying that anyway).

Of course there's occasional discussion about having the installer phone home for data gathering. I don't love the idea, but I understand the motivation.
