That's because (I presume) the bean involved is probably not one of ours, but an ldaptive object? Those wouldn't have the @Duration annotation that allows the auto-conversion to happen.

It's an unfortunate inconsistency, but it would be difficult to fix. Adding a comment to any properties like that would be a good idea.
