Actually, I can suggest one thing: make sure it's broken on real Java from Oracle.

The Template code depends a lot on the collection classes, and I know we've had issues with them on OpenJDK in the past. Probably due to subtle bugs on our side, but that would be the next thing to investigate if it can be traced to that.
