To a degree, but the EDS doesn't really care about that difference. You 
can run the EDS as a CDS, and that's still advisable in general, not least 
because of the whole "we'd kind of like to kill it" thing.

We're hosted on one box, admittedly, but our apps run on two different 
vhosts and the EDS runs on a third and it works fine that way.
