states a required attribute of the PrincipalConnector is
nameFormat,
then gives an example using the attribute
nameIDFormat
with the value
"NAME_FORMAT"

I conjecture a more helpful example would be:

<resolver:PrincipalConnector id="SAML1_UNIQUE_ID" xsi:type="pc:Transient"
    nameFormat="urn:mace:shibboleth:1.0:nameIdentifier" />

<resolver:PrincipalConnector id="SAML2_UNIQUE_ID" xsi:type="pc:Transient"
    nameFormat="urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:2.0:nameid-format:transient" />

I'd appreciate correction or confirmation of my conjecture...
