Shibboleth Website Contact

Jerry,

We ask for these questions to be sent to our users’ list because we are a free, open-source software with a small budget and a smaller team. We don’t have the capacity to answer everyone’s questions individually. If we use the mail list, then everyone can benefit from the answer, and the same question doesn’t have to be asked twice. The answer can go into the archives.

A very similar question was just asked on the users’ list a couple weeks ago, and repeated answers were given. They are listed in public archives in many places. Here is one of the archived answers:

https://marc.info/?l=shibboleth-users&m=142507962409136&w=2

Effectively, you can’t have siblings like that. You need one Path for abc, then a nested Path for cde, not an overlapping Path for abc/cde. There is a link to the wiki page where we tried to explain this in the above thread, along with a description of the warnings in the logs.

We don’t have the budget for dedicated technical writers. We do have a Wiki that anyone can edit, including you, so it would be great if you could contribute to making it better by helping this information appear in places where you expected to find it. It’s hard for us to guess where users will end up because we’ve been working with the software for a long time.

You’re welcome to use the mailing list however you find it useful, and you are welcome to subscribe or unsubscribe or route our messages to /dev/null(and plenty of people would understand if you did), but please remember that we provide this support, as a community, as a free service to each other, and we’re trying to be the most useful we can to the most people we can.

Thanks for your understanding, and take care,
Nate.

Hi Nate,

Actually I am not looking for a subscription, I am looking for an answer of configure theshibboleth2.xml file.

Below is my question:
How can I exclude a sub folder, for example “*/abc/cde”, I want Shibboleth2.xml protect “abc” folder, and ignore the “cde” folder.

I have been searching the answer from your official website, but the information is a bit poor.

Below is my configuration sample, the highlighted one is the path I would like to ignore, but below code doesn’t really work.

    <RequestMapper type="Native">
        <RequestMap>
            <!--
            The example requires a session for documents in /secure on the containing host with http and
            https on the default ports. Note that the name and port in the <Host> elements MUST match
            Apache's ServerName and Port directives or the IIS Site name in the <ISAPI> element above.
            -->
            <Host name="stg-gfowindedsr.pw.ge.com<http://stg-gfowindedsr.pw.ge.com/>">
                <Path name="abc" authType="shibboleth" requireSession="true">
                <Path name="abc/def" authType="none" requireSession="false"/>
             </Path>
            </Host>
            <!-- Example of a second vhost mapped to a different applicationId. -->
            <!--
            <Host name="admin.example.org<http://admin.example.org/>" applicationId="admin" authType="shibboleth" requireSession="true"/>
            -->
        </RequestMap>
    </RequestMapper>

Thanks & Regards,
Jerry
