Just to clarify, Duo and the MCB are two completely different topics.
In particular, you don't need the MCB to leverage Duo.
Duo is essentially a set of APIs that layer a "something you have"
factor on top of an existing "something you know" factor (such as an
existing username/password). A couple of years ago, Duo implemented a
login handler for Shib IdP V2. [1] AFAIK no one has yet integrated Duo
with Shib IdP V3.
