Building the Shib SP for Amazon AMI Linux is pretty straightforward, it just takes some time to work thru all the steps. Just follow the instructions at:
https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/SHIB2/NativeSPLinuxSRPMBuild
I built it for AMI a month or two ago, nothing complicated. Works fine. But I do know someone who tried using an RPM for CentOS for AMI, and that definitely is a mistake. It doesn't throw up errors, simply doesn't behave with HTTPD correctly.
