Well, I think you're hitting the bug, so the real answer is upgrade so that you can set the plugin IDs to whatever you feel most comfortable with. It will take you all of 30 seconds:
stop container
download 3.1 and unpack
run bin/install over top of old one
start container
Otherwise, yes, rename the definition something else. And make sure you have no result caching or any empty attributes in LDAP, or you'll run into more bugs in that release that are fixed.
