IdP 3 return UserId in NameId

Hello:

I am standing up a Shibboleth 3 server for some testing.  To get off the
ground, I need to return the LDAP user id as the NameId.  I have the LDAP
query working, I believe (I am getting the requested attribute-resolver
attributes back, anyway), but the NameId is just a base-64 encoded string.

I suspect that it's an encrypted transient id, but I really need to get the
uid.  So far, all of my attempts have yielded either some base64 encoded
item, or nothing.  What do I need to do to get that working?
