Java applets being blocked by Shibboleth Authentication

Anyone,
I have a web based client which when accessed by either Chrome or Firefox there are Java applets that are being blocked from executing by Shibboleth with Java throwing a "ClassNotFoundException" error.

This is the message from Java

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: DdiJspStatusApplet.class

          at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2ClassLoader.loadClass0(Unknown Source)

          at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
          at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2ClassLoader.loadCode(Unknown Source)
          at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager.initAppletAdapter(Unknown Source)
          at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$AppletExecutionRunnable.run(Unknown Source)
          at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

The same behavior is not present when IE is in use as all product facilities function as expected.

I have run the application without shibboleth and all browsers perform as expected,  My question is: Does there exist certain filter settings within Shibboleth that will work in conjunction with individual browser settings which would correct this issue?
