Startup time with large metadata?

Jfyi, on a CentOS6 box with the official RPMs and loading a SAML
metadata document that also includes most everything from eduGAIN
(some 16MB worth of XML) the rc.d init script thinks it fails to
restart shibd, due to a timeout.
(The start in fact works but the script doesn't seem to realize this.)

I have Signature, RequireValidUntil, EntityRoleWhiteList
MetadataFilter child elements on that, as well as a DiscoveryFilter.
