That's never happened to me, ever, so I have to think it's something
environmental. I've seen it once in maybe 3 years actually stop
refreshing, which some other people have reported, but I've never had it
dump the valid copy.

So my guess is some kind of race condition with the overwrite of the
metadata or something like that, so switching to the intended approach of
letting the IdP download it might clear that up.
