RemedyForce/SalesForce Idp Configuration

All,

This is my very first service to configure in Shibboleth and I am really struggling to understand what exactly I need to do to set this service up properly.  The documentation for Salesforce doesn't seem to give any clear indication as to what attribute needs to be sent to them (outside of what they request for Just-In Time Provisioning), and what that attribute name needs to be.

Is this as simple as sending the user id over from the sAMAccountName attribute?  Does the attribute need to be an email address?  If they do require an email address, does that need to the eduPersonPrincipalName? I've read so much conflicting information over the last few days I'm sure exactly what needs to be done, and I'm becoming very frustrated over the matter, because it seems it shouldn't be this difficult to setup.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
