I'd rather run the EDS as a CDS (with a Shib SP feeding it and doing
any filtering) than the CDS code itself, but that has its own
problems, mostly with i18n due to brower language detection with some
browsers (e.g. chromium/chrome).

Most DSs (including discojuice and the Shib EDS) have issues with
mdui:DisplaName elements in several languages, so you might not find
your institution if looking for it in a different language than what
the software had "detected" from your browser.

The SWITCHwayf works fine in all those cases, IIRC, and also has a
single interface element which acts as both typeahead search as well
as dropdown list (with icons), whereas with the EDS you'll have to
switch from one mode to the other and lose the icons in list mode.
So it's interface is one of the most advanced today, you might say.
Upgrading the SWITHwayf is a bit more involved, you'd probably have to
track releases in vendor branches (of your own) and merge updates,
otherwise it's a bit tedious. Also metadata updates need to happen via
cron, that's not a big issue, of course.

Here's what eduID.at documents for our consistency, FWIW:
