Thanks, Scott. I suspected as much. So, the logical follow-up question is when would someone use shibRequestSetting isPassive on if all it's going to get you back is an SAML exception?

No way I can think of to do that. You can't do advanced things in a totally hands off manner, all I can do is make it language independent to do them instead of using libraries.
