Boost is required regardless of the compiler. The problem on Solaris is
that Sun's runtime for C++ is broken, and using Boost with it requires
using an alternate library implementation called stlport that Sun included
with the compiler.

It doesn't include OpenSSL, but if you built OpenSSL yourself, I would
rebuild it anyway.
