Integration: Shibboleth as IdP and simpleSAMLphp as SP

Thank you for the answers.
I was thinking in other possibilities of integration of SSP and Shib, and
came up the idea of use a web service. Is this possible? If so, what are the
functional requirements for the development of this web service?
