Problems linking to a shib protected image server

Hi,

We have an interesting problem and I'm not sure there's a good solution
but I'll ask anyway.

The SP in question generates various plots from a large data store.
Individual plots have unique URIs and can be include in wiki pages and
other web documents.

The problem occurs when one page has multiple images and the user does
not yet have a session with the SP. The best we can determine the
problem is browsers open all the links in parallel and the SP is unable
to actually get a session. Usually the wiki page being opened has
established a session with the same IdP so there's no user interaction
to create the SP's session.

If the user has a session with the SP things work as expected (except
for 1 or 2 users out of hundreds but that's the subject for a separate
thread.)

We've done a few hacks like creating a first wiki page with one static
resource from the SP that then links to the one with all the images but
most people email the wrong link to their colleagues. We've mostly gone
to links individual images which works but is much more cumbersome for
the person reading the wiki.

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to better deal with this problem?

Thanks for reading this, please let us know of any ideas you have.

Best,
Joe
