Shiboleth SP or JBOSS

I have an application running in jboss and I would like to use shiboleth to
authenticate against a remote IDP. Should I set up shiboleth as some sort
of filter on the jboss server or can I set it up on an apache reverse proxy
and then put the application behind that?
