Shibboleth session vs Application session

Just a quick interjection, I have not been following this and Im not trying to muddy the conversation. 

If you are using "WebLogic SAML" you are not using the Shibboleth SP.  They are both doing the same thing as far as the IdP is concerned. 
One of them just does it better :-)
