Setup SP for a .Net App

We are attempting to setup a web app(SP) on a Windows 2008 Server to integrate with Shibb(IdP) . The end result is to have a home-grown application SSO using our Shibb instance and then redirect back to the application. The application itself is a VB.NET<http://VB.NET> app and we need to get the attributes back from Shibb also. Have you and your team done anything similar to this? Is there any .NET API's to use on the application side that you are aware of? Are these API's provided with the SP installation software? Are you aware of any other dependencies for this type of setup (other than installing the service provider and using an API within the app to consume data from the IDP)?

We have a very aggressive deadline with this integration and any assistance or tips with this would be greatly appreciated.
