Then you probably should be putting CAS in front of that, so Shibboleth
isn't really involved.

But ADFS is the IdP regardless, we're talking about how to do
authentication for it. Unless you're using Windows native login methods,
ADFS is a pretty lousy piece of software for doing custom authentication
with relative to open source alternatives.
