Hi Jimmy,
We use SCOM 2007 in a few ways to monitor Shibboleth at Towson University:
* Windows service checks ensure the Tomcat instance stays online
* Synthetic Transaction against each http://<idpserver>/idp/status<http://%3cidpserver%3e/idp/status> (we look for 'attribute_resolver_valid: true' in the response text
* Full Synthetic Transaction that actually logs into a locally hosted Shib service provider using our production IdPs.
With this combination we get a pretty good idea of what's going on; the first 2 bullets are against each server individually, while the 3rd bullet is against our load balanced pool, so we have an idea of whether the service as a whole is available or not.

Hi,
How do you monitor or what tools are generally used to monitor Shibboleth in a Windows environment please? Bearing in mind that we have SCOM 2007 from MS.
Cheers,
