Shib end to end test

Hello,

Has anyone implemented a health check for Shib which does a full simulated user login to a SP to confirm that the IDP is working? 

We monitor the IDP profile Status url but we had a JDBC connection pool problem with uApprove, which meant the Status was still reporting OK but in reality nobody could authenticate.

We need a more robust monitoring check. I would be interested to hear if anyone has an end-to-end test which proves the IDP is working.
