nameID question

So, in order for someone to use this, the Idp would have to do something to have this pass to my application as an attribute? Currently, I never see this as an attribute.
Just making sure I understand :)

No, the Shibboleth SP manipulates them and exposes them the same as
attributes, so your application could accomodate somebody insisting on
using them without any coding changes apart from differences due to the
format or syntax.
