IdPEnableECP question

Pulling from the IdPEnableECP documentation the line below reads.

If your IdP uses the RemoteUser LoginHandler, then it's likely that you can
simply extend the protection of your authentication setup to include the
path to the ECP handler, which is /idp/profile/SAML2/SOAP/ECP


So I am using the RemoteUser LoginHandler but I am really not quite sure
what it is telling me to do in this 2nd part, extending the protection,
could anyone help clarify?
