Pro:
Uses SAML2
not tied to AD for auth/attributes
More control over integration
Runs on open platforms
Opensource
Cons
Less support from MS as compared to adfs
Trickier to setup and manage the fed trusts
Possible issues with non http based apps (lync and the like) ECP?
Either will do the job. Depends on you preference on platform and support.
Note that other vendors also have idp's that will play with O365 (Tivoli
TFIM, NetIQ Access Manager, PingOne and Oracle Identity Federation)
