IdP and SP on same FQDN

I have been using Shibboleth SP & IdP successfully for a few months with a
single IdP and two SPs using the web browser SSO profile.

I have a requirement that would need me to have a protected URL on the same
FQDN as the IdP.  It it possible to install the SP on the same host (and
importantly  the same domain name) as the IdP?

So, for example:

IdP = test.demo.com
SP = test.demo.com

and https://test.demo.com/secure is "protected" by the SP?
