Why is this important?
You can check SVN if you really need to know /when/ an XML comment
warning about deployment methods was added.

If the software produces invalid XML by default I'd file a bug.

Well, then give them the generated Metadata and remove the XML comment
before doing so. You'll probably also want to include extra info like
Organization and ContactPerson elements or mdui elements while you're
at it.
