NameID question

I have an Idp that asked me this question:

"We have set NameIDFormat to be email and will be sending the user's email address as the value for this.  However, our email domain will be changing soon.  Will this have an impact?"

My protected resource does not use this - It just consumes the attributes passed in the headers, of which nameID is not an element that is passed.  I am assuming it has no impact but just wanted to make sure.
