SP metadata expired?

Unless the metadata for the EZproxy SP is regularly signed and
re-published it probably makes sense to set
requireValidMetadata="false" on the metdata provider for that entity
(at least I had the impression it had its own relying party
configuraition in relying-party.xml; otherwise that might have
undesired side-effects, of course.)
