Yes, you won't need any of the other stuff. IMO you should also not
need to dabble with the IdP if your university runs one (or if
testshib will do).

Given that you need to integrate with C#.NET I guess that only leaves
MS IIS? Unless http://www.mono-project.com/ provides all you need.
For Java obviously you'll need a Servlet container like Jetty or
Tomcat, tunneled to from the webserver. So a webserver that supports
AJP is good.
