Trouble starting shibboleth after upgrade

Hi,

I recently upgraded from 2.4.3  branch under Debian backports to the 
2.5.2 branch from the Switch.ch sources so that I could deploy the 
HttpOnly cookieProps attribute.

However running the check I get the following:

root at www:/etc/init.d# shibd -t
2013-06-24 14:12:51 WARN Shibboleth.AttributeExtractor.XML : attribute 
mappings are reloadable; be sure to restart web server when adding new 
attribute IDs
overall configuration is loadable, check console for non-fatal problems

However when I start the daemon, the logs show the following:

2013-06-24 14:20:47 INFO Shibboleth.Listener : registered remoted 
message endpoint (default::getHeaders::Application)
2013-06-24 14:20:47 INFO Shibboleth.Listener : listener service starting
2013-06-24 14:20:47 ERROR Shibboleth.Listener : socket call (socket) 
resulted in error (22): no message
2013-06-24 14:20:47 CRIT Shibboleth.Listener : failed to create socket
2013-06-24 14:20:47 INFO Shibboleth.Config : shibboleth 2.5.2 library 
shutting down

I have checked /var/run/shibboleth and no files exist from the old install.

The set-up runs inside an openvz container but 2.4x run without any 
problems so I doubt it's an issue with that but I'm at a loss as to what 
to do next?
