Shibboleth experimentation

Hello,

I am experimenting in the same computer Shibboleth SP and IdP (latest versions) through IIS7 as the SP web server and Apache Tomcat 6 as IdP servelets container. All the installations have been succesfull. But it is not working when it comes to get both SP and IdP talking each other, I have been trying to do so by faking hostnames, configuring the required .xml files (shibboleth2.xml for sp and relying-party.xml for the IdP) but it is still impossible for the SP to load the IdP metadata.

I have been following the shibboleth wiki page instructions  such as https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/SHIB2/IdPSPLocalTestInstall#IdPSPLocalTestInstall (for a quick test) and other articles.

Has anyone already experimented Shibboleth SP and IdP in the same machine through Windows/IIS? If yes,what is the good process to get the IdP and the SP communicating after installations?

Or what is the good testing environment and approach?
