Uninstall failed

In that particular case we tried a few easy solutions but didn't get any
further.  The machine in question was a VM and it was easy to revert.

Before we go too far down that road, can we just double check this is the
same issue (it wasn't explicit, but I had the impression that the uninstall
in that case failed, rather than hanging)

So, can you try the uninstall with logging enabled and report what appears
to be the issue.

C:\> msiexec /lvm log.log /x {973D4080-26FC-430B-9BEA-60ADB78C3CD3}

The output (log.log) will be huge and should give an indication of what is
stalling the system.

For the record and serach engines the Guid above is taken from the product
ID for that particular version of that installer
http://svn.shibboleth.net/view/cpp-sp/tags/2.5.0/msi/WiX/ShibbolethSP-main-x
64.wxs?revision=3758&view=markup.  

Finally:

That was a typo, right and you meant shibboleth-sp-2.5.0-win64.msi?
