OpenLDAP and AD in the same IdP

Yes.  We have our IdP use both AD and Oracle (née Sun) DSEE directories for both authentication and attributes.
Multiple DSEE instances are behind a load balancer; the IdP directly addresses two instances of AD in fail-over mode.
