I don't really know the external handler, but the login context isn't
something you set, it's set prior to sending the user to whatever login
handler is configured and has to be there on the way back in. If it's
getting lost, something you're doing is causing the client to drop or
refuse the cookie after it's set.

Trunk is not active, and using a release means you should just look at the
relevant tag for that version.
