This is informational for the time being, but since people in the
community have been instrumental in making this happen, particularly the
University of Wisconsin, I wanted to note it.
Microsoft has removed the NDA wall from the documentation they have for
WS-* interop with Azure cloud services like O365.

The Shibboleth Project was contacted directly about this, and I would like
to thank Microsoft for taking this step.
We have not committed to doing work in this area (and we don't have the
spare cycles to deeply study this until next year after V3 ships), but
this was obviously a precondition to us doing anything, so it's a good
step. I'll probably get it onto the roadmap page for the under discussion
section.
Speaking on my own behalf and not for the project, I still have concerns
about the project engaging with this because Microsoft (as I understand
matters) controls this profile and maintains unilateral change control
over it. They don't have a long partner list, but the ones they have
obviously have much more money
than we do to maintain compatibility with it. Ultimately it has to be
discussed by the team, the consortium members, and the board to weigh the
matter.
If nothing else though, this opens avenues for third party contributions
and work.
I am still talking to MS about further conversations to explore the change
control question so I'm not speaking from incomplete understanding.
