Yea, we finally had to go with replacing the jtds driver which wasn't supported with the sqljdbc driver that is. Working fine now. Thanks for the help everybody.

I've had a long history of distrusting openjdk, but it's mostly proven to
be irrational on my part. If you actually verify that as the cause, I'd be
interested.

I don't use it in production at OSU, but we use it on shibboleth.net.
