Shibboleth as an IDP or SP

We have a similar setup - the short answer is it's an IdP.

I don't know much about how all the Microsoft server products work but Office 365 goes to our ADFS server for authentication, which delegates to the Shib IdP.

up and figure it out if that is not correct.  Does anyone know if that would
be correct?
