Question on Login Handlers

I'm afraid you've already exceeded my experience with the 
UsernamePassword handler and JAAS... :/

The one remaining configuration combo I'd try is use the same JAAS 
config file for both, but use a different jaasConfigName section for the 
second handler (the default appears to be "ShibUserPassAuth").
