That's the same thing, unless you only want to protect one type of app
pool, in which case the other poster seems to have identified a relevant
trick that is unknown to me.

A filter installs to a site, and there's nothing finer grained that
matters to IIS. I believe the other poster was able to identify a setting
that tells IIS not to load the filter in any app pools under a site with
the wrong size. That seems to be what you're asking. I don't know how to
set it or how it works, but the thread mentions it.
