Shibboleth 2.5 NameID format element

Scott,
Thanks for the clarification.  I added the NameIDFormat element to my
SSO element like so:

	    <SSO entityID="https://some.idp.com:443/">
	               SAML2 SAML1
 
<NameIDFormat="urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:2.0:nameid-format:emailAddress">h
otraj at saic.com</NameIDFormat>
	    </SSO>

I am getting an 'Attribute name expected' error when checking the
config.

Can you confirm the correct syntax for this usage of the NameIDFormat
element?

That is not needed.

All you have to do is add the NameIDFormat to your SSO element or in a
content setting for the affected URLs.
