OK, I'll hopefully be able to report on how this system functions, and
what difference in performance is achieved by using local cache (with
cron job to prepare it as you suggest). The objective is to measure
performance of perhaps 200-500 simultaneous login attempts at once,
using 2 front-end SP webservers (with or without load-balancer), and a
single backend shibd server. Whether this is even a feasible solution,
compared to several load-balanced SPs with web-server adn shibd on the
same machines, is something I am tasked with showing with numbers.
