Thanks again for responding, Scott. The service provider decided to test a new F5 on our production servers... Shib hated the test data flooding the box...

I have 2 servers running shib and they both exhibit this failure. No change was made by us. We are trying to find out if the hosting company changed anything. 2.3.1 is my version of Shib.

I assume you realize that's not possible; something changed. Most app pool
failures that involve the SP are due to permission errors somewhere, but
other than that, it's impossible to say without a stack trace from a
crash. I do know that the crashes from problems opening logfiles have been
corrected in 2.5.
My guess is something somebody did overwrote permissions somewhere. You
might also try clearing the /var/run/shibboleth and /var/cache/shibboleth
(in 2.5) directories in between a stop/start, in case some file is stuck
and preventing updates or something.

That doesn't tell me what
version it is.
I will not be around much of the weekend, I'm just responding because I'm
online right at the moment.
