IE and Shibboleth.sso/SAML2/POST

I have an issue that only occurs in IE for some of our users. 

When users try to go to a shibboleth-protected application at
https://my.app.com/here, they are correctly forwarded to the login page at
https://my.loginpage.com/idp/Authn/UserPassword. And if they type in correct
credentials, several redirects later, they land at https://my.app.com/here. 

For some users using internet explorer (not all) instead of ending up at
https://my.app.com/here they end up at
https://my.app.com/Shibboleth.sso/SAML2/POST  

Can anyone explain why this is happening? And why it's only happening to
some users? There aren't any hints in the logs... no difference between
users that successfully reach https://my.app.com/here and those who don't.
