You said the error came from when you connect to your LDAP server (so
"server certificate" above clearly refers to the certificate on the
LDAP server).
Whether you have a valid certificate on your web server is immaterial.
This is basic sysadmin stuff and not related to Shibboleth at all.
Maybe you should ask someone for help.
