We don't do this because the bottlenecks are specific to your environment.
The answer is to load test with your back-end systems to determine what
you'll need. Everybody is different.

The basic answer is that the IdP isn't the controlling factor on any
recent hardware, and memory usage is relatively minimal unless you cache
lots of data for a long time. Redundancy requirements will depend on your
tolerances, so again, nothing that the project will provide guidance on.

For myself, the overriding consideration is to have a shared-nothing
architecture so that scaling is linear and maintenance is easy.
