Whilst I realize that the conversation has moved on and away from this, for the record:

For the record, this is uncomfortably close to nested discovery ("Which Federation"->"Which Idp"->"Which Protocol").  This is
something which is currently frowned on.  Do please try to avoid since it confused neophytes and adds extra clicks to the login
process.

(and, yes, I have done a discovery like that, but I was younger and more naive)
